Valley of the Volcanoes

The Valley of the Volcanoes, located at an altitude of 3587 meters, was the center of strenuous convulsions in the Volcanic Cordillera. We can still see an extensive layer of lava over which around eighty-six smaller inactive volcanoes have emerged. They look like blisters from gas discharged from the lava or possibly the product of direct eruptions. Some of them reach 300 meters in height, and their age is approximately 200,000 years, presumably from one or two eruptions of the Mount Coropuna volcano and others that are no destroyed.
